Yes Let, a traffic problem, no biggie.
We see some stupid referee decisions sometimes and this is a prime example of one of those, a stroke most probably and definitely a let as Hammamy was trying to get out of the way. Gohar was robbed big time.
Great video for me. Im making a dogs dinner out of my serves recently. Love the marker splats on the front wall. I've been aiming too far left and not high enough. The returns are amazingly good, so straight and tight from such tight, high serves
nice discussion gents. these days since the game is faster, left leg stance more and more needed. maybe 3 decades ago we used to solely coach traditional right leg stance. how things have changed. now th Egyptian players use left leg stance to do volley drop, never would've seen that from jansher times etc
This guy seems like a genuinely nice guy. Sandra got that cake too! 😂🙋🏼👻
"Dackhand" eh 😂
Oops!
I love "the exection" wich is a kind of perfect execution by Willstrop, very clinical!
I like this girl’s modest, positive and sunny smile
Nice to see Shaun here. I had a few training sessions in the 90s when he played in Stuttgart. It was always great fun! Thank you!
very like
No let plenty of room to play it.
This was fantastic. Thank you!
No effort at all to play the ball
No let she could have played
This is the reason I burn through shoes at such a rate!
The miscalculations most players make is they look at where they are , on the court. When in actual fact its " what the ball sees" is the mitigating factor. With this in mind you can clearly see the ball has sight of the entire front wall. Hence Gohar needed to play on. ❤
No let, she’s just a moan
No let
From what I have seen these two did not get along during the rivalry (say from 1995-2004 or so), but now they get along fine and have fun. Now while this was a great rivalry, in cycling we have one that is truly for the ages. Wout van Aert vs Mathieu van der Poel. These two have been racing first in cyclocross age 12 (!) then both became World Champions in it in their youth, both became world champions as seniors. completely demolshing all competition especially Van der Poel. Then they took it to the road where they quickly started the same rivalry being able to beat others routinely. And I mean they did and do so in the most important races on the planet. Now the balance is in Mathieu van Poels favour again, he has a clear edge not just on Van Aert but on everyone. But the gap in reality is very small and Wout van Aert is still without a doubt in most races his number one rival. They are not friends, but there is also no animosity. After their careers are done I think they will see eachother more often and more as friends because they both know and have said that one could not have reached the level they did without the other and also that it is natural for them that they are eachothers competition almost always...And if there is no hatred, there has to be a bond due to it. So that rivalry is now going on since 2007, that is 17 yrs and counting. In squash I personally found Power quite funny and had great finesse, but still I was more a fan of Nicol. While not as refined, his tenacity, agility and the routine of retrieving ""unretrievable" balls was to me so much more exiting. I remember a match against Simon Parke which was incredible since Parke in that match had virtually the same strengths...Wow.
NO LET!
Nice instruction. I’d have liked to see a point to aim for on the front wall though. I seem to struggle when serving from the left side of the court, and it’s obviously a different aim point when lofting the ball as opposed to powering it.
No let at first glance but a let should be acceptable for safety reasons. No harm No foul.
Personally, I believe decisions overall should bias the incoming striker more. Also, to say a decision must fall to either a stroke or no let is a false dilemma, since a yet let gives the striker the benefit of the doubt, and doesn’t discourage a safety mindset like a no let does. While not in this case, when the incoming striker decides to hold up, they are often trying to fight through the interference under duress. In this case, yes, Gohar could have gone for a cross-court but if she had struck her opponent in the face with the ball, people would be saying she should have held up for safety. Her opponent was also slightly slow to clear. She read the shot and felt she had to hesitate before hitting the ball. Since it wasn’t that far off from being a stroke, a let splits the difference while still encouraging safe decision making versus pressuring players to hit risky shots going forward.
I get where your coming from and at my level of play I think that's definitely true since people struggle to call let and often hit dangerous shots. At her level I’d assume she is seeing and calculating at a much higher level so I think they had to give a no let. If they start giving out lets too freely then players would adjust to that and some would milk the system. That said, she was in a dominant position so a yes let is to her opponents advantage over just continuing play. I think the court ref was completely understandable in giving a no let, this would always need a video ref if there was a chance for a let but video refs probably have even less room to add their own discretion.
@@jacobpaint Gohar was looking for a stroke in this situation because her opponent hit the ball in a poor line back towards herself. Gohar was anticipating the ball to be faster than it actually came off the wall. The slower ball gave her opponent more time to clear. Hypothesis: That players will look to milk stroke or let calls is unfounded and is a poor excuse to penalize players by shifting the bias to the no let. Safety is number one. A let wouldn’t have benefited Gohar per se.
@@ThemethodmixI think we are mostly in agreement but it was her misjudgement of the ball and her opponents movement that lead her to call let. That judgement is part of the game so if you judge a let call poorly then there has to be a point where the ref doesn't give you the let. I couldn't say where that line is and I’d be satisfied if she had been given a yes let. The question becomes, when in a dominant position, how poor does a players judgement have to be so that the ref is justified in giving a no let. It possibly comes down to the fractions of a second faster or slower, that her opponent cleared the shot.
No let 100%
Мне этого не хватало, спасибо!
No let, can’t believe she didn’t go for that
No let for sure.
No let, plenty of room for a cross court.
No let

I think I’m leaning too far over on my defensive open forehand lung. It’s injuring my lower back a lot, and I’ve lost all flexibility there. Any tips to fix this? Is it just too weak?
This is well explained. Thanks!
First class! 👌👌 and Thanks 🙏. Are there any great players with poor footwork? 🤔. Nope! Best I ever saw was Ramy Ashour. Everyone talks about his amazing racquet skills👏, but his footwork and movement were sublime.
world class knowledge 🔥
Great, but what about the backward Rotation to generate power, should it breaks up the rhythm or fluidity of the movement to the ball?
This is exactly the video I was looking for, I think the key element here is the little hold just before the foot hits the ground which is needed for side on adjustment
Toe drag, much like an outrigger for stability.
@admiralongstash8056 Yes exactly. No let. My full explanation of that decision is that he was very initially wrong-footed by the disguise on the direction of the drop shot. By the time he started to change direction it was already becoming too late to "get there" to make a return and he then utilised the player being "in his way" as the basis of his "let" request. No let: You caused your own obstruction (by being initially wrong-footed which then left you in a no-hope situation. Your own fault. No let.
Beautiful
cool, thanks for the tutorial
Ah yes, the old acute-angle, high, off-forehand, flat volley killshot to the front wall nick... nothing to it, really!
Having spoken to refs from when he was vying for the top spot, they have a different memory of how JP interacted with refs. Fascinating guy.
First professional man I saw play
🥵
Usually the opponents stay close and I worry to hit them with the follow through...
